Lake Garda, Italy

I loved everything about the holiday spent on Lake Garda. It had everything for me lakes and mountains, lovely shopping and the freedom to hop on and off the ferries to go to any town around the lake that we wanted to visit. It is somewhere I have to go back to some day.

A Finnish Sky, isn't it beautiful!

When I took this photograph I was painting watercolours and I thought this was the most perfect sky to paint. Sadly, for three years now I haven't painted anything but I will one day. The clouds look close enough to touch don't they?

Jyvaskyla, Finland

I loved this lake, while I was staying there I would walk around the lake to the town each day then sit in my favourite cake shop and have tea and cakes and watch the Jyvaskylan world go by. It amused me, coming from a pretty well snow-free England to see the roller bladers using their ski sticks (sorry, don't know what they are called) to push themselves to even greater speeds. Even the walkers used them to aid their progress, striding along as if they were on skis. Nice memories, I hope to be back there next year for a holiday.

Browns Bay, Island Magee, Northern Ireland

One of our favourite family places while we lived in Northern Ireland. It's where we spent many a lazy day with the children and where we had our first indication of the start of the 'Troubles', a road block manned by men with guns. Throughout all the fear we felt living with the bombs and the sextarian fighting, we loved our 3 years in Northern Ireland. The people and the country will always remain in our affections.

Bodium Castle, East Sussex

The happiest ruin I have ever visited. Nothing even remotely horrible could have taken place there, it is such a peaceful place.

Hastings, East Sussex

Hastings, memories of long summer holidays exploring the old town antique shops for bargains; being scared in the darkness of the smugglers caves; running wild over castle hill. It never rained in those days! This is the town where I met my husband, lived and brought my first two children into the world. This year I took my 10yrs old granddaughter there and we both had a wonderful time
